Dog friendly Peregian Beach.

Some family members have four legs. Here's how to bring yours.

Peregian is one of the more relaxed dog-holiday villages on the Sunshine Coast. Off-lead beach access, dog-friendly cafés, and a house that welcomes small dogs by arrangement — the whole family gets to come.

Off-lead sections of the beach

Noosa Council designates parts of Peregian Beach as off-lead in the early morning and late afternoon. The exact times are posted at each beach access path — read the sign before you unclip the lead, because the windows shift seasonally.

As a rule of thumb: before 8 am and after 4 pm outside daylight saving; before 7 am and after 5 pm during summer. Always well away from the patrolled flags.

Dog-friendly cafés and pubs

  • Outer Square — outdoor tables face the green; water bowls at the door.
  • Hand of Fatima — the shaded terrace welcomes dogs on-lead.
  • Salty Mermaid — the newest of the three, easy pace, coastal feel.
  • Peregian Beach Hotel — the garden bar is dog friendly; the dining room is not.

Walks and loops

  1. The beach walk to Coolum. Roughly forty minutes each way. Firm sand at low tide, off-lead for most of it, one river crossing that some dogs prefer to skip.
  2. The village loop. Beach path, around the green, past the surf club, back along Kingfisher Drive. Twenty minutes. Coffee at the end.
  3. Noosa National Park. Dogs aren't allowed inside the park itself, but the fringe streets and Sunshine Beach are fine.

The nearest dog park

Coolum Beach has a large fenced dog park at Tickle Park, twelve minutes down the coast road. Water, shade, benches. Good for a burn-off before dinner.

The dog was the first to figure out the back gate. Everyone else caught up eventually.
